Design: Rock Garden

From the pedagogical work that the educators have done with rocks, and inspired by the work of scholars like Paulina Rautio who wrote about how “we are generated by the stones whether we think about it or not”, we knew the playground would not be complete without a stone garden. This was not a matter of placing a few armor stones.

The garden is over 50 square meters in size, and the boulders and larger stones living there have been individually invited, if you will, by the us.

Plantings have been incorporated into the stone garden design as well, to emphasize this not being a pile of rocks to plumage through, but indeed a space that needs to be cared for.
